The visuality of the very first year of the Šotek Children’s Book festival in Jičín has the spotlight on its target – the enthusiastic young reader. Flat-tuned illustrations with a strong contour are complemented by a bright retro-evoking colour palette and the Abril font family. My main intention was to create a coherent whole that will strike an impression not only on the youngest visitors of the festival, but also on their parents, for whom various literary references are hidden throughout the visuals. This will hopefully remind them of the reading enthusiasm of their own childhood years.

The visual identity created includes: communication for social networks, a series of illustrated posters, folded leaflets with the festival program in two formats, and a number of additional printed materials – postcards, bookmarks and stickers.

Besides the visuality, I was invited to participate in the festival as an author; I conducted an art workshop for children based on the motifs of my book Catalonia. Do you also want to try to build your own Catalan human tower, alias castell? Download the template in PDF format here:
